I saw this joke on 8 / 10 Cats but I can believe you came up with it yourself. I once wrote a gag - 'My only friend is my calculator. It's all I can count on'. Later someone told me it's a Ken Dodd line but I still use it as I thought of it independently.
Is there any such thing as a truly original joke? When you get to my age, you've probably heard them all. Most "new" material is in some way a re-hash of the old stuff, but that doesn't mean it's any less funny. Context is everything (in my humble opinion!)
