At the moment it's not possible to let an author know you've given them a nod and a vote without revealing your identity. Sacrificing anonymity is a small price to pay. I used to try delaying giving a vote but kept getting requests for a vote when I gave a nod. A promise of giving a vote later might be ok but I think most people would prefer to receive a vote straight away. Any suggestions welcome.
Not sure if this is the same idea as my caption.me caption. Nod and vote given.

If you've voted for it, anon, you're not exactly anon any more!

There was no need for a nod, Steve, but thank you anyway. And thanks for your vote!

Caption author vote anonymity for comments on their own captions is on the Todo list, but perhaps a more extensive vote anonymity could be a solution?
It's cool to see who's voting for your own captions/comments, but maybe not as essential to see who's voting on others?
I must admit, personally, I like being able to see who's voted where, but could live without it if need be. Perhaps worth a forum discussion.
