That's quite interesting, I never realised that sheepish meant to feel extreme shame or having a lack of self confidence.
I always thought sheepish meant fickle for someone who's easily herded as they can't or don't resist peer pressure.
But it appears that "sheepish" applies to the way a shepherd lives rather than the sheep. Hopefully this isn't a definition coined up by city slickers to undermine the farming working classes to make them feel a sense of shame, or to make the city slickers feel better as they're not the poor bastards sitting out in the fields themselves! 🤣
It's alright, in an urban setting they've got the factory working line instead but I've never come across being factoryish before...
