I haven't used this website for all that long so have no idea if this comment has been on before, I certainly haven't seen it, but feel upset that you have made a negative comment about my post when people were liking it. Lots of the captions on here seem regurgitated anyway, not sure why you felt the need to pick out my caption? Maybe because it was doing well at that point? (Better than yours?)
The caption has been around the track a few times (pun intended), but as the Cap Auth says, there are many regurgitated captions on caption.me that escape comment. That said, I can sympathise with Anon1 a little, as getting smashed in the votes by repeat captions can be painful.
This is a relatively new joke to me. I've only seen it once before. I think the poster has been very unlucky to get flak from Anon. There are far worse targets he/she could have chosen. This is my own particular hate list:
1) Anything to do with Schrodinger when a cat appears. 2) Anything to do with Gulliver. 3) Anything to do with a passport being rejected. 4) Although I've got nothing against dogs, I wish someone would have drowned the Andrex puppy at birth. 5) Hound of The Baskervilles puns which are so bad they can't really be classified as puns.
I do quite like the captions that featured Dave or Tina from Doncaster as a foil. Although these feature a repeat character the captions are usually pretty good.
I would like to see what other characters are created on the site as a result.
I know Gulliver should have gone to Specsavers because he plans to spoil Schrödinger's cat so he can fatten up the cat to be eaten at a later date with a diet coke. Okay these themes are reused but I've noticed there are original takes on the same themes
It's funny when two of the same caption appear (i.e. Cops and lobbers etc) sometimes and the same caption gets different votes (look at snow patrol). What would be even funnier is if both captions were accidentally double posted by the same author! 😆
The Hound of The Baskervilles puns are so frequent, it's almost amusing to see how many times someone can manage to get it on the site in various different forms!! I generally can't quite bring myself to vote on those puns though...
