You've got to hand it to Dave, Dave is a hero saving all of those people in the flat from the very fire bomb he threw in ahead of time.
He asked the neighbours to look after the fire bomb for him and when they refused, he decided to lob it in anyway. Dave thought they were playing hard to get and not being very neighbourly at all, not looking after the very thing he asked them to. After all it was evidence he'd forgotten to dispose of from an open crime scene investigation and they'd be doing him a very special favour if they had agreed and allowed themselves to be implicated but the neighbours weren't having any of it.
How else would Dave be a hero if he couldn't put people in predicaments he could then save them from?
That's not very neighbourly or heroic at all. The fact that he fell off the window sill before he could do anything and the neighbours saved themselves was even less neighbourly and heroic.
