What does a nod involve?

A nod is a way of acknowledging that someone has posted a similar caption, pun or idea before you did. This benefits the recipient of the nod by making their caption more noticeable via the comment. Along with the nod I think it helps if you say whether you remember having seen the caption before you thought of your own and how much it inspired you. An example might be: 'Nod to 20:00:09 Not seen before thinking of caption'.

Thank you for that. I just posted quickly as I was in a rush before reading the other captions. I do that quite often. I did not think for a minute anyone would have the same strange perception I did with this picture. When you post late on here the captions get overlooked and rapidly drop to the bottom so I think that accounts for the duplicate ideas you often see. People rushing. My fault though for not reading thoroughly. I usually just speed read and scan. Accompanied with the fact that there is a big discrepancy in voting here, that is, some vote generously and others hardly vote at all. I personally think there should be a cap on both. That would result in less strategy and more sportsmanship. It appears that this fact too accounts for people posting before reading others contributions and maybe leaving theirs in situ despite being similar or duplicate. I have removed duplicates or similars in the past when I have noticed but ideally, an admin should have the over rule button and be able to check and remove.
But thank you and a nod to other similar captions now and in the future. Ps..I hope this is viewed as more explanatory than defensive. Smiles.
