Why? - People should have pride in their sex toys. Nobody cares about covering up the amount of batteries they're buying.

I think it works either which way. An empty void filler could be applied to a fleshlight, etc. The only time it wouldn't apply would be for anything sensual that can't be stuck in a hole or used as one.
